How to Contact the Tool Shed While Neighborgoods Fixes Email Issues

Neighborgoods seems to be experiencing a problem with messages not being reliably sent to users' email address when messages are sent on the site. This affects communication in the "inbox" and on the borrowing pages.

Since we can not rely on communication on the site, please contact the Tool Shed team through via email or phone after you borrow an item. Include in your message when you would like to pickup. We'll get back to you as soon as we can.

The 2014 Plant and Seed Swap plus Native Plant Sale

Spring is around the corner and with it gardening season. The Tool Shed invites you to join us on Saturday, April 26th for the Plant and Seed Swap where we swap plants, seeds and gardening tips. This year children are welcome for a seed planting workshop from 10 until 12:30 PM. At 11 AM a composting demonstration will answer any questions you have about creating soil out of food and yard waste.

We are happy that Chesapeake Natives will be joining us for a two hour native plant sale starting at noon. Take a look at their plant list to get a sense of what will be available.

The swap and sale are happening in the backyard of the Tool Shed located at 3601 Bunker Hill Road (map).
  • The Tool Shed is just seconds away from the bus stops at Rhode Island Ave & 37th St and at 37th Pl which are served by the 81, 83, 84, 86, F1, F2 and T18 buses.
  • Bike parking is available in front at the Bike Coop.
  • Vehicle parking is typically available in the parking lot of the Bunker Hill Volunteer Fire Department located next door.

Haven't been before? Check out photos from last year's Seed Swap.

You can RSVP or invite others from the event page.

See you at the Swap!

Never Pay for Tools You'll Use Only Once

Claire at the ReadyForZero blog has it right: don't bother buying items that you'll use only once. And who wants to store things that take up space but get use rarely? Instead of buying, borrow!

The Tool Shed has items to borrow that are large or expensive that you may not want cluttering your home such as a generator, a fleet of reel lawn mowers, an air compressor and a large drill. Borrow anything you would like!
